The Nigerian Army has issued a strong call to all terrorists and bandits, specifically those operating in the Northwestern region, urging them to surrender without conditions.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army Sokoto, made this statement during a press briefing after inaugurating RSM House at the 1 Brigade Cantonment in Zamfara State.

Mutkut emphasized that the terrorists are facing significant pressure, and their only viable option is to lay down their arms and surrender to the military.

He highlighted that these individuals chose to enter the bush without any negotiation, and now that they are facing the consequences, they should surrender.

Mutkut dismissed the idea of negotiation, stating that it has proven ineffective in the past and should not be repeated.

The army is determined to continue its efforts to eradicate terrorists from the region. Mutkut affirmed that the military will not engage in negotiations with the bandits but will instead actively pursue them in their hideouts with the aim of eliminating them.

Despite the challenges posed by the rainy season, troops have been deployed to troubled areas such as Zurmi, Shinkafi, Tsafe, Dansadau, and other locations in Zamfara State to dislodge the terrorists from their hiding places.

Mutkut highlighted that the bandits have shifted their focus to attacking soft targets, particularly innocent citizens in villages and on highways.

In response, he called on district heads and communities in Zamfara State to form groups that can protect their communities and provide support in times of distress before the arrival of military troops in the affected areas.

The military remains committed to confronting the bandits and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
