BREAKING: Another Court Voids Arrest, Detention Of Emefiele, Orders Immediate Release

In yet another ruling from an Abuja High Court, the arrest and detention of Godwin Emefiele, the Suspended Central Bank Governor, by the Department of State Services (DSS) has been declared null and void.

Justice Bello Kawu, presiding over the case, concluded that the arrest, detention, and interrogation of Mr. Emefiele were in direct violation of the existing judgment and orders issued by Justice M. A. Hassan.

The request to invalidate the arrest and detention was made by Mr. Emefiele through his legal representative, Peter Abang. They argued that the actions taken against the applicant were illegal and invalid, considering the judgment issued by another court on December 29, 2022.

Additionally, Justice Kawu issued an order to nullify any arrest warrant obtained or procured by the respondents, particularly the DSS, in relation to the allegations against Emefiele, which included terrorism financing, fraudulent practices, money laundering, and threats to national security. This ruling prevents any court from enforcing such an arrest warrant.

Furthermore, the court granted an injunction to restrain the respondents, specifically the DSS, from arresting, detaining, or interfering with the personal liberty and freedom of movement of Mr. Emefiele.

Ultimately, the court issued a mandatory injunction directing the respondents, particularly the DSS, to immediately release Mr. Emefiele from any form of arrest or detention.
