Mr. Nasiru Isa, the Director of Finance and Account at AMMC, clarified to reporters that the plot was initially designated for the Council’s Senior Staff Housing Estate. However, temporary allocation was granted to a company for the construction of Games Village.

Isa emphasized that due process was followed in conducting the demolition, noting that the plot had been allocated temporarily and was not intended for permanent structures.

The AMMC had issued multiple notices to the management of Games Village prior to the demolition exercise, according to Isa. He explained that the plot contained unauthorized structures, including a private school and a mechanic workshop, which were not in accordance with the temporary allocation.

Isa highlighted that the demolition process had commenced four months earlier and was concluded on Thursday to ensure compliance with regulations. He also mentioned that the issue had been ongoing for three years, underscoring the necessity of the action taken by the FCTA.
