During a crackdown operation targeting commercial motorcycle operators in Abuja, Mrs. Deborah Osho, Head of Operations at the Directorate of Road Transport Services, FCTA, made this declaration.
Osho emphasized that this operation aligns with existing laws prohibiting the operation of commercial motorcycles in the city, highlighting the evolution of these activities from mere traffic violations to serious security breaches.
She stressed the urgency of government intervention to curb the activities of commercial motorcyclists, citing the impounding of motorcycles and the subsequent crushing of these vehicles as essential for security reasons.
“The operators should not come near the city. If you want to operate, go to where it is approved in the suburbs and other rural areas. Commercial operators of motorcycles are not welcome in the city,” she asserted.
Dr. Peter Olumuji, Secretary of the Command and Control Centre at the FCTA Department of Security Services, echoed the sentiment, underscoring that the operation forms part of broader efforts to combat criminality in the city.
The FCTA’s uncompromising stance underscores its commitment to enforcing regulations and safeguarding the security and well-being of residents in the nation’s capital.
