Zamfara Implements Measures To Enhance Security: Bans Tinted Glass And Unlabeled Bread

In response to the escalating insecurity plaguing Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has taken decisive action by signing executive orders aimed at bolstering security measures in the state. The executive orders, numbered No. 02 and No. 04 of 2024, were signed by Governor Lawal in the presence of key government officials at the Government House in Gusau.

According to Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, the issuance of these orders was prompted by recent attacks in various communities across the state, particularly in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Kaura Namoda, and Talata Mafara, as well as the resurgence of banditry and kidnapping activities.

Executive Order No. 02 mandates all bakery production companies and enterprises to label their bread with the full address and particulars of their production factory. Additionally, the sale of unlabeled and packaged bread in sacks is prohibited to enhance traceability and accountability.

Furthermore, the order restricts petroleum filling stations from selling more than fifty (50) litres of petrol to vehicles at a time. Sales of petroleum products at filling stations are also limited to specific hours, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Moreover, transportation and sale of bread are confined within designated areas in each local government capital, with specific restrictions outlined for Gusau.

Executive Order No. 04 prohibits the use of tinted glass in vehicles across Zamfara State. Additionally, vehicle owners are barred from covering their license plate numbers while driving. Compliance with the provisions of Zamfara State Road Traffic Law No. 2, 2015, or any other relevant laws, is mandatory for all vehicle owners.

These measures underscore the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and safeguarding the lives and properties of Zamfara residents. The implementation of these executive orders is expected to contribute significantly to restoring peace and tranquility in the state.
