Speaking during an X Space event titled “When will there be an end to Nigeria’s recurring abductions?” organized by Daily Trust, Gumi expressed his concerns about the military’s approach to tackling banditry. He accused both the Army and Air Force of launching ground and air strikes that have resulted in the deaths of bandits’ families.

Gumi emphasized the need for a non-kinetic approach to address the activities of bandits effectively. He highlighted the importance of synergy between various stakeholders, including the military, in combating insecurity. However, he stressed that non-kinetic strategies should take precedence, with kinetic actions as a secondary measure if necessary.
