In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s decision reflects his unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
The panel, as outlined in the statement, is mandated with enforcing the directives of the review committee and the subsequent White Paper endorsed by the State Executive Council.
Comprising distinguished individuals including Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information, and Wole Jimi Bada, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the committee has been assigned specific responsibilities aimed at ensuring accountability and preventing future discrepancies in contract procurement and management.
Among its terms of reference are the enforcement of recommendations outlined in the committee’s report, prosecution of offenders through appropriate channels, and the implementation of institutional reforms to safeguard against recurrence of irregularities in contract processes.
The statement emphasized the immediate commencement of operations by the panel to execute the approved recommendations of the State Executive Council.
Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in the administration of state resources, affirming his determination to implement the directives outlined in the White Paper.
He stressed the importance of safeguarding state assets for the benefit of current and future generations, underscoring the need for stringent measures to deter leadership malpractice.
The establishment of the panel follows Adeleke’s earlier initiative in 2022, which saw the formation of the contract review committee through an Executive Order, reflecting his proactive approach to governance and commitment to effective resource management.
