The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 8, around 4:30 am, in the Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area. Abubakar allegedly accused his wife of taking his phone, sparking a heated argument that escalated into violence.

According to reports from the state police command, Abubakar repeatedly stabbed his wife in the back before fleeing the scene, leaving her in a pool of blood. The victim’s father reported the incident to the police, leading to Abubakar’s arrest.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary investigations uncovered material evidence at the crime scene implicating the suspect. Abubakar reportedly confessed to the crime, expressing remorse for his actions.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, expressed disappointment over the tragic event and assured that the culprit would face diligent prosecution. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the grave consequences of domestic disputes and the urgent need for intervention to prevent such tragic outcomes.
