Tragic Incident: Woman Crushed To Death By Falling Container On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

In a tragic incident on Friday, a yet-to-be-identified woman lost her life when a 40-feet container fell onto the car she was behind, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Taofiq explained that the accident occurred due to the high speed at which the driver of the fully loaded container truck was traveling. Following the incident, the driver and his motor boy fled the scene, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

Emergency response teams, including LASTMA officials and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit, swiftly moved in to conduct rescue operations. Despite their efforts, the woman tragically lost her life.

Authorities, including the police from Alapere Police Station, were on hand to handle the situation. Other emergency responders included the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, stressed the importance of road safety, particularly for truck drivers, urging them to avoid overspeeding and ensure their vehicles undergo proper checks, including the braking system, before setting out on journeys.
