The EFCC officials, accompanied by armed security personnel, had earlier barricaded Bello’s home, blocking both entrances. This action occurred shortly after Bello’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House.

According to a source within the EFCC, who spoke on condition of anonymity, attempts were made by EFCC operatives to gain entry into the house, but they were denied access by Bello’s security personnel.

The EFCC had previously filed charges against Bello, alleging financial fraud totaling ₦84 billion. The amended charge specifically accused him of diverting ₦80 billion of state funds in September 2015, four months before assuming office.

The unfolding situation at Bello’s residence has attracted significant attention, with supporters and observers closely monitoring developments amidst the ongoing EFCC siege.
