Yahaya Bello Condemns EFCC’s Invasion Of Abuja Residence

Bello highlighted that the EFCC’s actions were in direct violation of a court order issued on February 9, 2024, by the Kogi State High Court of Justice. The court order restrained the Commission from harassing, arresting, detaining, or prosecuting him pending the determination of a substantive fundamental rights enforcement action.

Despite the pending court judgment and the ongoing legal proceedings, the EFCC personnel laid siege to Bello’s residence, seeking to effect his arrest. Bello criticized the agency for disregarding the court order and emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law.

He expressed concern over the potential implications of law enforcement agencies flouting court orders, warning that such actions could lead to anarchy and negatively impact the nation’s economy. Bello also raised questions about the integrity of the EFCC and its adherence to due process in the fight against corruption.

In light of these developments, Bello urged President Tinubu to intervene and ensure that the EFCC respects the rule of law and operates within the confines of legal legitimacy.
