Protests Erupt In Benue Over Escalating Violence: Indigenes Demand Government Action

This legislation, designed to curtail conflict between farmers and herders, has faced challenges in implementation, contributing to ongoing tensions in the region.

Among the protesters’ demands is a call for enhanced security measures from both federal and state authorities to safeguard communities against armed herders. Former local government officials and community leaders, such as Francis Ayagah and Titus Numzua, emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to address the root causes of insecurity and restore peace to the region.

Senator Titus Zam and Asema Achado, representing Benue North West Senatorial District and Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency respectively, echoed these sentiments, condemning the attacks and urging swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
