We’re Not Noise Makers – Okai Fires Back At Governor Ododo, Criticizing Handling Of Bandit Attacks
Austin Okai, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, has rebuked Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for what he perceives as playing politics with security issues……..READ ALSO Edo: Shaibu Has Messed Up His Political Future – Okai
Describing Ododo as a “rookie governor,” Okai expressed disappointment in the governor’s failure to visit Omala community, where bandits killed at least 25 people last month.
In response to Ododo’s dismissal of criticism as “noise,” Okai criticized the governor for politicizing insecurity and questioned the secrecy surrounding the identity of the suspect arrested in connection with the killings.
Okai emphasized the importance of prompt and transparent action, highlighting the need for the governor to address the concerns of Omala residents directly and swiftly.
He expressed concern over what he sees as a lack of effective governance, citing the delayed response to the incident and the failure to provide adequate support to the victims.
Okai challenged Ododo’s assertion that his mandate comes from the President, arguing that governance is the responsibility of elected officials accountable to the people, not the President.
He urged Ododo to prioritize the welfare and security of Kogi residents, particularly those affected by the recent attacks, criticizing the governor’s alleged indifference and lack of decisive action.
In Okai’s view, Ododo’s handling of the situation reflects a failure to grasp the responsibilities of governance and a disregard for the needs of the people he was elected to serve.
