ARTMA Official Fatally Shot By Gunmen In Awka

The incident occurred near a motor park frequented by commuters traveling from Awka to Nnewi. According to eyewitnesses, the victim, an ARTMA official, attempted to stop individuals driving a Toyota Sienna vehicle with tinted glasses. In a shocking turn of events, the perpetrators opened fire, fatally injuring the official before fleeing the scene.

This unfortunate incident follows closely on the heels of another violent attack at Aroma junction the previous evening, where another individual lost their life to gunmen.

While cult-related killings have been reported in Awka since the Easter period, it remains unclear whether Thursday morning’s tragedy is linked to such activities.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this senseless act, the Anambra State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has yet to provide official commentary on the incident at the time of this report.
