NiMet Forecasts Sunshine And Thunderstorms Across Nigeria

- Thursday: Northern cities are expected to experience sunny skies, with potential afternoon and evening thunderstorms, particularly over parts of Taraba state. Isolated thunderstorms are also forecasted over parts of Benue State later in the day. In the southern region, cloudy conditions with spells of sunshine are anticipated during the morning period, with isolated thunderstorms expected in various states during the afternoon and evening.
- Friday: Sunny weather is predicted over the Northern states, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted over parts of Adamawa and Taraba states during the afternoon and evening. The north-central region should see sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kogi states later in the day. In the South, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected during the morning, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted in various states during the afternoon and evening.
- Saturday: Sunny skies are expected over the Northern region in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa, Taraba, and southern Kaduna states later in the day. The North Central region should experience sunny skies with patches of clouds, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted over parts of Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue State, and FCT during the afternoon and evening. In the South, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected during the morning, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted in various states during the afternoon and evening.
NiMet advises the public to take adequate precautions as strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. Airline operators are also urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
