In a weather bulletin released from its headquarters in Abuja, NiMet outlined the expected weather conditions, highlighting regions prone to thunderstorm occurrences.
According to the forecast, the northern region is expected to experience predominantly sunny weather, while the North Central cities may witness isolated thunderstorms, particularly in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Benue states.
For the South and coastal areas, NiMet anticipates cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms in certain regions, including Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and other states.
As the forecast extends to Thursday and Friday, similar weather patterns are anticipated, with thunderstorms projected to occur in various states across the country, including Abia, Imo, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Delta, Rivers, Lagos, and more.
NiMet has issued a cautionary advisory, urging the public to remain vigilant, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms, where strong winds may precede rainfall. Additionally, the agency emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, particularly in regions with high temperatures.
As part of their safety measures, NiMet recommended that airline operators stay updated with weather reports for effective planning and operational management.
As Nigeria prepares to navigate through the upcoming weather challenges, NiMet’s forecast serves as a valuable guide, enabling individuals and organizations to take necessary precautions and adapt their plans accordingly in the face of potential thunderstorm activities.
