Group Defends Emefiele: “If Forging Signature Is His Only Crime, We’re Proud of Him”
In a bold declaration of support, the Agbor Stakeholders Forum (ASF) from Delta State has rallied behind the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, amidst ongoing legal battles and allegations. The group contends that the country’s deteriorating economic condition serves as vindication for Emefiele’s tenure, emphasizing his purported impact and competency……READ ALSO Emefiele Strikes Back: Sues Akpabio For N25 Billion Over Damaging Remarks
In a statement issued recently, ASF vehemently argued against the portrayal of Emefiele as a villain, asserting his pivotal role in managing the CBN effectively. Despite facing a six-month detention and extensive investigations by various agencies, Emefiele’s integrity remained intact until allegations surfaced regarding the forgery of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s signature.
ASF boldly proclaimed that if forging Buhari’s signature during the 2023 elections stands as Emefiele’s sole transgression during his nine-year tenure, then he deserves commendation rather than condemnation. The group raised questions about the authenticity of the accusations, pointing out the absence of incriminating evidence linking Emefiele to financial misconduct or corruption.
Challenging the narrative of corruption and wrongdoing, ASF underscored Emefiele’s alleged contributions to Nigeria’s economic stability and productivity during his tenure. They criticized the relentless pursuit of Emefiele by authorities, highlighting the need to focus on combating more pressing issues such as crude oil theft, which reportedly accounts for a significant portion of Nigeria’s economic woes.
In a defiant stance against what they perceive as unjust persecution, ASF called for transparency and accountability in the handling of Emefiele’s case, expressing confidence that the truth will eventually come to light. As the legal saga unfolds, the group’s unwavering support for Emefiele underscores broader sentiments within the community, reflecting a desire for fairness and justice in Nigeria’s governance landscape.
