Emefiele Granted ₦300m Bail In New Criminal Case

Emefiele was arraigned on a four-count charge related to printing new Naira notes without following due process. He pleaded not guilty to the charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 15.

The bail conditions require Emefiele to provide two sureties, each owning titled property within Maitama, FCT. Justice Anenih also ordered Emefiele to deposit his travel documents with the court and prohibited him from traveling outside the country without court permission.

The judge adopted the conditions from a previous bail granted by Justice Hamza Muazu of the same court, allowing Emefiele to use certified true copies (CTCs) of documents submitted for that bail.

The trial is set to commence on May 28.
