My Flatmates” Renewed For 10th Season

Popular Nigerian comedy sitcom My Flatmates has secured a renewal for its 10th season in partnership with Africa Magic, marking a major milestone for the long-running television series.

The sitcom, co-created by renowned comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, and the late filmmaker and director Kayode Peters, is currently preparing for its landmark 10th season.

According to Ireporter Online, the renewal will see My Flatmates continue as one of Africa Magic’s longest-running comedy franchises, with the series expected to retain its weekday broadcast slot across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv.

Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, at MultiChoice Nigeria, Atinuke Babatunde, described the 10-season milestone as a significant achievement in the television industry.

She said the longevity of the sitcom demonstrates its enduring appeal among viewers, particularly because of its ability to combine humour with relatable stories and familiar everyday experiences.

Babatunde noted that the series has continued to connect with audiences through its distinctive blend of comedy and social commentary, adding that Africa Magic remains committed to investing in programmes that consistently resonate with viewers.

Production of the 10th season is already underway, although an official premiere date has yet to be announced.

The sitcom revolves around a group of eccentric friends who share a home while dealing with financial difficulties, relationships and the challenges of everyday life. Its popularity has been driven by a combination of satire, slapstick comedy and social commentary.

Over the years, the series has featured several popular actors and comedians, including Basketmouth, Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, Buchi, Bethel Njoku, also known as Senator, and Wofai Fada, alongside several notable Nollywood guest stars.
