Ayra Starr Reveals Dream Of Making Music Video With Zayn Malik
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has reflected on her remarkable rise in the music industry, recalling how a childhood dream of working with British singer Zayn Malik eventually became reality.
According to Ireporter Online, the award-winning singer opened up about the experience while discussing her recent collaboration with Malik and the journey that has taken her from a young music enthusiast to an internationally recognised artiste.
Ayra Starr revealed that she had admired Malik since his days as a member of One Direction and once imagined what it would be like to work with him professionally.
She recalled writing lyrics from One Direction songs in her school notebook while growing up, a habit that sometimes got her into trouble at school.
The singer said her dream of collaborating with Malik initially appeared almost impossible, given the distance between her childhood ambitions and the reality of becoming a global artiste.
According to her, the experience taught her that dreams that seem distant can become achievable when accompanied by determination and consistent effort.
“Your dreams might seem so far away, but it’s just here. And you just have to work towards that,” she said.
Ayra Starr said working with Malik became particularly emotional because she had once looked up to him from afar and never imagined she would eventually meet him in person.
She recalled that she grew up listening to One Direction and writing their lyrics, making her eventual collaboration with Malik a full-circle moment in her career.
The singer expressed amazement at how quickly her childhood aspirations had transformed into reality, noting that she eventually found herself on a music video set with the former One Direction star.
“Like, it felt so far away. I’m telling you, it felt so far away,” she recalled while describing her younger years.
Ayra Starr said meeting Malik in person during the video shoot made the experience even more memorable.
“Like, it’s things that felt so far away. And now, like, I did a music video with Zayn Malik and he was there in person,” she said.
Reflecting humorously on the encounter, the singer said she greeted Malik as though they had known each other for years, despite having admired him since her childhood.
“I was like, hello friend, long time no see. This is crazy,” she recalled.
The singer’s reflection has highlighted the remarkable progress of her career and the possibility of turning long-held ambitions into reality through persistence and dedication.
