During the attempted arrest, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi reportedly visited Bello’s residence in Abuja, where the former governor was located. Bello was said to have been rescued by Ododo when he left his residence in Wuse Zone 4 District of Abuja, prompting the EFCC operatives to withdraw.

Following the incident, the EFCC declared Bello wanted, and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) placed him on a watchlist. Additionally, the Inspector-General of Police withdrew police details assigned to Bello.

Bwala, speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast show, labeled Bello’s evasion of arrest as a criminal offense. He urged the former governor to surrender himself and report to the EFCC’s headquarters without delay.

The lawyer’s remarks underscore the seriousness with which Bello’s actions are viewed in the context of the EFCC’s ongoing investigation into the alleged financial misconduct.
