Gov Bago Faces Blast For Throwing Naira Notes At Supporters

In the video, he was seen standing through the roof of a moving vehicle, tossing the notes in the air as his supporters scrambled to pick them up.

His actions sparked outrage among citizens of the state, civil society groups, opposition parties, and clerics, who condemned the act as unacceptable, dehumanizing, and constituting the abuse of the naira.

Mohammed Abdullahi Jabi, the North Central Zonal Chairman of the Campaign for Democracy and Human Rights Advocacy Civil Society of Nigeria, criticized the governor, stating that his actions could potentially breed beggars in the state and urged him to show maturity and decorum in governance.

Similarly, Yahaya Ability, the Niger North Zonal chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), condemned the governor’s public display of money and blamed his Special Advisers on Security and Political Affairs for not adequately performing their responsibilities.

Umar Danladi Abdulhamid, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, also criticized Bago, stating that his actions violated the nation’s constitution and urged him to find better ways to share public funds in a more mature manner.

The governor’s actions have stirred widespread condemnation and calls for him to reconsider his approach to engaging with supporters and distributing funds.
