Shafi’u Abubakar, the suspect, allegedly sprayed the mosque with petrol, locked its doors, and set it ablaze, trapping around 40 worshippers. The motive is believed to stem from a family conflict over inheritance. Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel reported that out of the 24 victims, 15 have succumbed to their injuries, with initial reports underestimating the casualties. The incident occurred during dawn prayers, leaving 24 others injured, currently receiving treatment at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano. Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
