Rejuvenating The NLTF: Comrade Tosin Adeyanju’s Transformative Leadership Amid Supreme Court Ruling
The recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the states’ exclusive powers over lotteries and games of chance has sparked nationwide discourse about the future of gaming governance in Nigeria. While the judgment redefines the jurisdictional boundaries of lottery administration, it also serves as a timely reminder of the exceptional work being done at the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) under the stewardship of its new Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju.
Since his appointment on July 17, 2024, Comrade Adeyanju has revitalized the NLTF, steering it towards unprecedented achievements that align with its mandate of promoting “Good Causes.” Despite the evolving legal landscape, his leadership has proven that excellence and impactful governance remain attainable.
The Achievements that Define Success
Under Comrade Adeyanju’s transformative leadership, the NLTF has delivered programs and initiatives that have touched lives across Nigeria. These include:
- Strategic Vision and Leadership
- 2024–2028 Roadmap: A clear, actionable blueprint for the NLTF’s future, unveiled by President Bola Tinubu. This strategic document highlights the agency’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and measurable results.
- Institutional Strengthening: Adeyanju has fostered partnerships with key agencies, ensuring synergy and collaboration for sustainable impact.

- Donation of state-of-the-art medical equipment to hospitals and healthcare centers in states such as Osun, Ebonyi, Kogi, Delta, and Rivers.
- Construction of solar-powered boreholes in underserved communities to improve access to clean water.
- Empowerment and Community Development
- Distribution of irrigation machines and pumping equipment to farmers in all six geopolitical zones, boosting agricultural productivity and food security.
- Donation of food, clothing, and sports materials to IDP camps, providing essential support to displaced communities.
- Sensitization campaigns on responsible gaming and drug addiction prevention targeting youths nationwide.
- Welfare and Capacity Building
- Cleared a seven-year backlog of staff promotions, restoring morale and fairness in the workplace.
- Conducted staff training and retreats to enhance productivity and foster a culture of excellence.
- Collaborations for National Impact
- Partnered with the EFCC to improve efficiency and transparency in remittances.
- Collaborated with international and local agencies to empower youth through education, skill acquisition, and awareness campaigns.
- Rural Transformation
- Deployed solar energy solutions in remote areas and supported farmers with tools for dry-season farming.
- Donated sports and medical equipment to schools and hospitals, ensuring better resources for communities.
A Testament to Leadership
The Supreme Court’s judgment signals a new phase of opportunity for states to take control of their lottery activities. However, even amid this evolving framework, the NLTF has demonstrated its capacity for excellence and its focus on delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians. This success is a direct result of Comrade Tosin Adeyanju’s visionary leadership, which has repositioned the Fund as a key driver of national development.
Comrade Adeyanju’s work stands as a testament to the power of purposeful leadership. In just five months, his administration has shown that with the right vision and determination, an agency like the NLTF can serve as a beacon of hope and progress.
As Nigerians celebrate the gains of this transformative leadership, they also look forward to a future where the NLTF continues to lead with excellence and deliver “Good Causes” across the nation. Comrade Adeyanju has not only set a high standard but has also rekindled public confidence in what dedicated leadership can achieve.
