Jonathan, speaking at a chieftaincy ceremony in Etche Local Government Area, praised Fubara’s resilience, noting that political opposition is a natural part of leadership. He assured Fubara that these current challenges would ultimately strengthen his political prowess.

At the event, Jonathan encouraged the people of Rivers State to continue supporting the governor, stressing the vital importance of peace for the state’s development. He urged Fubara to remain steadfast, stating, “Nobody becomes a General without fighting wars. Whatever challenges you face now are preparing you to be a General in politics. With your commitment and the support from the people, God will see you through.”

Jonathan also highlighted the strategic significance of Rivers State, warning that instability in the region could have dire consequences for the entire country. He called for peace, emphasizing the need for the state to remain calm and focused on development.

In his remarks, Governor Fubara gratefully accepted the chieftaincy title of Dike Oha 1 of Etche Land, bestowed upon him by the Etche Traditional Rulers. He thanked both the Etche and Ikwerre communities for their continued support and pledged to prioritize projects aimed at improving the people’s standard of living, including road infrastructure in several communities.

Fubara also reaffirmed his commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring that his administration stays on track to deliver on its promises. He acknowledged Jonathan’s consistent support, noting, “He has stood by me through this difficult period of our administration.
