The group, led by Secretary General Okechukwu Isiguzoro, emphasized that the reforms would revitalize Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), boost the livelihoods of Nigerian workers, and eliminate double taxation.

The group also raised concerns about resistance from the Northern region, claiming that some northern leaders are opposing the reforms out of fear of losing illicit financial advantages. Ohanaeze urged Southern lawmakers to unite in pushing for the successful passage of the reforms in the National Assembly, arguing that the proposed tax changes would foster a fairer business climate and benefit the country’s economic growth.

Ohanaeze also criticized the opposition from Northern politicians, suggesting their opposition is motivated by selfish interests that undermine national development.
