Dollar to Naira Today: Black Market Rate Hits ₦1,430
The Nigerian naira traded at ₦1,430 to the United States dollar at the Lagos parallel market on Sunday, August 9, 2026, according to market information obtained by Ireporter Online from Bureau De Change operators.
The latest black market exchange rate showed that Bureau De Change operators sold one dollar for ₦1,430, while buying the currency at ₦1,415.
The parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market or Aboki FX market, remains an alternative source of foreign exchange for many Nigerians, although exchange rates may vary across locations and among individual traders.
According to the latest figures, the difference between the buying and selling rates stood at ₦15 per dollar.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria does not officially recognise transactions conducted in the parallel market. The apex bank has continued to direct individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to carry out such transactions through authorised banks and other approved channels.
Data available to Ireporter Online showed that the dollar traded between ₦1,363 and ₦1,367 at the official CBN market during the period under review.
The official figures indicated a highest rate of ₦1,367 and a lowest rate of ₦1,363 for the US dollar.
However, Nigerians seeking to buy or sell foreign currency have been advised to note that actual exchange rates may differ from the figures quoted, as forex prices often vary depending on location, market conditions and individual dealers.
