2027: Peter Obi Joins Makinde At Inauguration Of Abuja Campaign Office

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Monday attended the inauguration of the Abuja campaign office of Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

According to Ireporter Online, the ceremony held in the Federal Capital Territory brought Obi together with senior figures of the APM, including the party’s National Leader and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.

Footage from the event showed Obi seated alongside Mohammed as party officials and supporters gathered for the formal unveiling of the campaign office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mohammed warned rival political parties against underestimating the electoral strength of the APM and its presidential candidate.

The Bauchi governor said the party was entering the presidential race with an agenda to change the direction of governance in Nigeria, while urging Nigerians to take Makinde’s candidacy seriously.

“Whoever disregards us is at his own peril, we are here to reset Nigeria and we are bringing in one of the best human capitals that Nigeria has ever produced at the sub-national and national level, that is Makinde,” Mohammed said.

He described Makinde as an experienced leader with a record of managing resources and delivering development, particularly during his tenure as governor of Oyo State.

Mohammed also praised the leadership of the APM, saying the party had deliberately positioned itself to offer Nigerians what he described as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

According to him, the inauguration of the campaign office demonstrated the seriousness of Makinde’s presidential ambition and the party’s preparations for the election.

Mohammed further described Makinde as a mobiliser, resource manager and accomplished engineer, arguing that he had achieved significant development in Oyo State despite limited resources.

The Bauchi governor urged Nigerians and political opponents not to underestimate Makinde, insisting that his record in Oyo State had prepared him for the demands of the presidency.
