Dollar To Naira Exchange Rate Today, August 9, 2026
The naira weakened further against the US dollar at the Lagos Parallel Market, commonly referred to as the black market, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with the dollar quoted at ₦1,430 for selling and ₦1,415 for buying.
According to IREPORTER Online, sources within the Bureau de Change (BDC) market disclosed that the latest rates reflect ongoing fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.
At the prevailing parallel-market rate, individuals looking to sell one US dollar could receive about ₦1,415, while those seeking to purchase the same amount would pay approximately ₦1,430.
The latest figures show a ₦15 difference between the buying and selling rates in the parallel market.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the black market as an official foreign exchange market and has continued to direct individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to authorised financial institutions.
At the official market, the dollar was quoted within a range of ₦1,363 to ₦1,367 on the same day.
The disparity between the official and parallel-market rates highlights the continued volatility in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market, with rates subject to changes based on market conditions, demand and supply.
Market participants are advised to note that actual exchange rates may vary from the figures reported, as Bureau de Change operators and other forex dealers may quote different prices at any given time.
