Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder and Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries International, has recounted an encounter with Bishop David Oyedepo which he said gave him a deeper understanding of success and personal responsibility.

According to Ireporter Online, Ibiyeomie shared the experience during a recent sermon while encouraging members of his congregation to take responsibility for their lives, decisions and pursuit of success.

The pastor explained that success cannot simply be transferred from one individual to another, regardless of how close the relationship may be or whether one person serves as the other’s mentor.

Ibiyeomie recalled visiting Oyedepo at the beginning of a year, during which the Living Faith Church founder asked him to kneel for prayer.

He said he expected a conventional prayer for blessings and prosperity but was surprised when Oyedepo instead prayed that he would receive the grace to accept responsibility.

According to Ibiyeomie, the unusual prayer left a lasting impression on him because it focused more on personal accountability than material blessings.

He said he subsequently returned to his church and shared the lesson with his congregation, urging members to recognise their individual responsibilities and take deliberate steps towards achieving their goals.

Ibiyeomie stressed that people should not expect another person to hand them success, arguing that everyone has a role to play in building their own future.

The pastor said the experience reinforced his belief that individuals must be prepared to work, make responsible decisions and take ownership of their lives rather than relying solely on mentors or influential figures.

He encouraged his congregation to apply the lesson by taking responsibility for their personal development and striving to achieve their own success.
