Arteta Reveals What Bruno Guimaraes Will Add To Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes new signing Bruno Guimaraes can bring a fresh dimension to the team after describing the Brazilian midfielder as a player capable of “igniting something different” at the club.
According to IREPORTERONLINE, Arsenal officially unveiled Guimaraes following his £75 million transfer from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old was presented to supporters at the Emirates Stadium before the Gunners’ pre-season fixture against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
Guimaraes did not feature in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Dortmund but could make his first appearance for the club when they face Italian side Como on Wednesday.
Arteta expressed his excitement over the midfielder’s arrival, highlighting his leadership qualities, energy and competitive mentality as key reasons Arsenal pushed strongly to secure his signature.
The Arsenal boss said Guimaraes had already made a positive impression during training, praising his hunger, determination and ambition to establish himself at the club.
According to Arteta, Arsenal are aiming to reach another level and require players with the personality, character and desire to raise standards throughout the organisation.
Guimaraes’ arrival has also increased Arteta’s options in midfield, with the manager able to call on players including Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Eberechi Eze and Mikel Merino.
Arteta expects the Brazilian international to offer greater tactical flexibility while also providing an additional attacking threat as Arsenal prepare to defend their Premier League title.
The manager explained that Guimaraes can operate in different midfield roles depending on Arsenal’s tactical approach and the strengths of their opponents.
He also praised the midfielder’s ability to win possession, move the ball quickly, create opportunities between the lines and make runs behind opposing defences.
Arteta further identified Guimaraes as a significant goal threat, pointing to his ability to arrive in the penalty area at the right moment and finish attacking moves.
The midfielder becomes one of several additions to Arsenal’s squad this summer, following the arrivals of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge and goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer.
