Downdetector, a website tracking outages, recorded massive surges in reports from users, revealing that Instagram had over 71,000 complaints, while Facebook experienced more than 107,000. On Facebook, users were greeted with a message stating, “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”

The disruption led to an increase in activity on X, where users quickly sought confirmation from others experiencing the same issue. The hashtag #instagramdown trended on the platform.

One user, Shay, tweeted, “Every time my Instagram or Facebook doesn’t work, I run to Twitter to see if it’s just me. Thank God I’m not the only one!” Another user, #iamrazi18, shared, “Me running to Twitter to see if everyone else’s #Whatsapp #Facebook #Instagram is down or if it’s my internet.”

Meta acknowledged the technical issue in a statement on X, saying, “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”

WhatsApp also tweeted, “We’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly.”

This outage follows previous service disruptions, including a major interruption in March. As Meta works on resolving the issue, users are left waiting for updates on when normal service will be restored.
