In a statement released on Friday, Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army’s Director of Public Relations, revealed that among those promoted to major general are A. Garba, the acting provost marshal; U.M. Alkali, the deputy chief of administration at the Directorate of Veteran Affairs; and A.G.L. Haruna, the acting General Officer Commanding the 7 Division and Commander of Sector 1 of the North-East Operation Hadin Kai.

Others elevated to this rank include I.A. Ajose, acting General Officer Commanding the 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 for the North-West Operation Fansan Yamma; N.B. Ebulue from the Headquarters Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre; and L.G. Lepdung, the commander of Operation Whirl Stroke.

Among the newly promoted officers are O.A. Awolo, Director of Military Training at the Nigerian Defence Academy, and U.G. Ogeleka, Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command.

Additional promotions include O.A. Fadairo, commander of the 12 Brigade; O.D. Williams, commander of the 22 Brigade; J.R. Lar, commander of the 32 Brigade; and A.G. Mahmuda, the Commandant of the Warrant Officer Academy.

V.D. Beryo, Commander of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, and A.O.D. Okoro, Director of the Army Headquarters Department of Special Services and Programs, were also promoted.

Other notable promotions include S.O. Adejimi, Director of Movement in the Department of Army Logistics, and T.T. Sidick, Director of Finance at the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Additional promoted officers are MCE Ejike, Commander of Sector 2 for the Joint Task Force in North-East Operation Hadin Kai; M.F. Babayo, Commander of Sector 3 of the North-East Joint Task Force for Operation Hadin Kai; H. Yanet, Commander of the 51 Signal Brigade; and M.K. Gara, from the Army Headquarters Department of Training.

Also promoted were B.P. Koughna, Deputy Chief of Military Affairs at the Army Headquarters Department of Civil Military Affairs; I. Otu, from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre; A.O. Adegbite, from the Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport; and I.E. Ekpeyong, from the Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers.

Further promotions include A.A. Idris, from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation; S.A. Gumel, from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre for Strategic Management and Policy Studies; and M.T. Jinadu, Commander of 82 Division Ordnance Services.

Others elevated include S.A. Jimoh, Deputy Director of the Tender Board of the Department of Procurement, and U.T. Opuene, Deputy Director of Policy and Plans at the Defence Intelligence Agency.

Colonels promoted to brigadier general include S.M. Iliya, Commander of the 43 Engineers Brigade; O. Igwe, Commander of the 78 Supply and Transport; and N.E. Udofia, from the Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical Mechanical Engineers.

Also elevated were U.R. Okoroji, Commander of the 404 Engineers Brigade; G.S. Oyinwola, from the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary; and S. Ahmadu from the Defence Intelligence Agency.

C.I. Nwonyi, Commander of the 81 Division Provost Group; A.S. Aliyu, Commander of the 1 Division Military Intelligence; and T. Garba, Commander of the 77 Supply and Transport Brigade, were also promoted.

Further promotions included K. Imam, Commander of the Army Headquarters Garrison Ordnance Services; N.S. Onuchukwu, Chief Medical Director of the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital; and A. Musa, Commander of the 108 Division Equipment Support.

D.M. Baba from the Office of the National Security Adviser and O.A. Obochi from Defence Headquarters were among those elevated.

Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), congratulated the newly promoted officers and their families, encouraging them to intensify their efforts to live up to the confidence placed in them. He urged them to lead by example, embrace innovative strategies, and remain dedicated to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. Oluyede reminded them of their oath to defend the nation and uphold loyalty to the constitution.
