She made this assertion during a recent meeting with members of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
During the session, NACCIMA President Dele Oye highlighted the need to regulate the growing number of trade fairs in the country to protect consumers. The minister praised the private sector’s commitment to Nigeria’s economy over the years.
“We are here to assure you that we will collaborate effectively. 2025 is going to be a crucial year for Nigeria,” she stated.
Oduwole acknowledged the hard work and resilience shown by the private sector in 2024 and emphasized the importance of communication and collaboration in driving progress.
“The ministry is dedicated to engaging with you in substantive discussions and including you in our strategic planning for 2025,” she said.
“I assure you that in 2025, we will systematically address the issues you have raised, implementing actionable and measurable solutions.”
She emphasized that NACCIMA is specifically mentioned in her mandate as Minister, highlighting President Bola Tinubu’s serious commitment to their concerns.
“We have significant work ahead, but through open collaboration, you will witness substantial changes in our partnership,” she added. “Expect to hear from us soon, and changes will start to manifest from January.”
In response, NACCIMA President Oye thanked the minister for her visit, underscoring that the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI) is uniquely positioned to oversee the private sector.
He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to establish Nigeria as a hub for foreign direct investment (FDI).
Regarding trade fairs, Oye remarked, “We have been entrusted by the ministry to oversee trade fairs since 1977, but many are using them to introduce inferior goods. Therefore, it is essential that we regulate how trade fairs are organized in the country, and we seek the ministry’s support.
