In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the governor made this announcement during the Elders and Widows’ Party held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki.

Nwifuru expressed his concern regarding the delays in disbursing salaries and pensions to local government employees, labeling the situation as troubling.

Reiterating his dedication to providing effective governance based on the Chartered Needs Agenda, the governor cautioned against any attempts to undermine the social contract with the citizens.

“All local government staff should receive their salaries and pensions by 2 PM tomorrow,” he stated.

“We are committed to delivering quality governance for our people. Those who support our mission should participate in our efforts; those who do not should distance themselves.

“If staff are not paid their October and November salaries by 2 PM tomorrow, the chairpersons should resign,” the governor emphasized.

Additionally, in a positive turn of events, Governor Nwifuru announced the immediate distribution of N50,000, a 25 kg bag of rice, and a wrapper to each of the 5,000 widows and elders who attended the event.
