United, to Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old forward will be on loan at Villa Park until the end of the current season, and the deal includes an option for Aston Villa to buy him for £40 million.
Sources from Manchester United indicate that Aston Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s wages during the loan period, with no extra loan fee being charged. This financial arrangement demonstrates the commitment of both clubs to ensure a successful transfer while adhering to their budgetary constraints.
In a statement on his Instagram account, Marcus Rashford expressed appreciation to both Manchester United and Aston Villa for facilitating the move.
He stated: “I want to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal possible. I was fortunate to have several clubs approach me, but choosing Aston Villa was straightforward; I really respect the way they’ve been playing this season and the ambitions of the manager. I’m eager to play football and can’t wait to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United the best for the remainder of the season.”
Rashford’s decision follows a period of introspection, particularly after not being included in the starting lineup during the Manchester derby last December.
Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, is looking to strengthen their squad following a disappointing 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers. After that defeat, Emery stressed the urgent need for new players, citing injuries as a significant factor impacting their recent performances. In addition to Rashford, the club is nearing a loan deal for Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain.
