Rivers State Administrator Ibas Cancels All Pending Procurement And Tender Processes

Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has announced the cancellation of all pending procurement and tender processes in the state. This decision follows the ruling of the Appeal Court in suit number CA/ABJ/CV/133/2024.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibibia Worika, Ibas informed the public that all procurement activities carried out by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) during this period are now null and void…READ MORE….

The statement further emphasized, “As a result, all MDAs that conducted tender processes for projects in their respective offices are hereby instructed to immediately refund the tender fees to the contractors, pending the approval of a new spending plan, which will be communicated in due course.”

This cancellation means that all contractors who participated in these processes will have their fees refunded. The government assured that the refunds will be processed while awaiting approval for the new spending plan.

In related news, Oye Fasua, a former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State, has advised the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, against taking legal action against President Bola Tinubu. Fasua warned that such a move could be counterproductive and further damage Fubara’s political standing, rather than achieving justice or redress. He criticized politicians encouraging Fubara to challenge the six-month emergency rule in court, claiming they were exacerbating the situation.
