Patience Jonathan Allegedly Keeps 15 Domestic Workers In Prison Since 2019 Over Unproven Robbery Case

Reports have emerged claiming that former First Lady Patience Jonathan has kept 15 of her domestic staff incarcerated at the Okaka Correctional Centre in Bayelsa State since 2019 over an alleged robbery. Sources close to the case have suggested that the judge currently handling the matter is allegedly stalling proceedings on Jonathan’s orders.

One source revealed, “Since 2019, Patience Jonathan has kept 16 of her domestic staff in Okaka Prison, accusing them of stealing her jewelry, without allowing a proper court trial. Although legal services have been provided for them by TECH4JUSTICE, the case has not moved forward since the appointment of the current Chief Judge, who is said to be acting on Jonathan’s instructions.”

A relative of one of the detained workers confirmed, “They have been in Okaka Prison in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, since 2019. These 15 workers were employed by the former First Lady. In 2019, after a break-in at one of her apartments in Otuoke, she decided to arrest all her domestic staff, even those who weren’t working in that apartment at the time.”

The relative added that, despite years passing, there has been no evidence to substantiate the claims, and the case remains stalled. “They are charged with armed robbery, malicious damage, attempted murder, and stealing, but there is no evidence. The case continues to be delayed with the excuse that they are waiting for witnesses to come forward.”

The names of the detained workers include Vincent Olabiyi, Ebuka Cosmos, John Dashe, Tamunokuro Abaku, Saabi Liman, Emmanuel Aginwa, Erema Deborah, Williams Alami, Precious Kingsley, Tamunosiki Waribobo, Salomi Reginald, Sunday Boma, Oba Golden, and Vivian.
