Gbajabiamila Calls On Youths To Prioritise Nigeria’s Interests, Support Tinubu’s Reform Agenda

Gbajabiamila made the call during his goodwill message to participants at the 2026 National Retreat of the City Boy Movement, themed “Youth, Unity and Action,” where he highlighted the importance of youth participation in national development and praised ongoing reforms by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to a statement released by the Deputy Director-General of Media, Communications and Public Affairs of the City Boy Movement, O’tega Ogra, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives described the retreat as a strategic platform for preparing young Nigerians for greater leadership roles at a time of economic transformation and institutional reforms.

Gbajabiamila said no country could achieve meaningful progress without the active involvement of its youth population, urging young Nigerians to choose service, unity and collective responsibility over personal interests.

He noted that the Tinubu administration had introduced major economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms and tax system adjustments, which he said were aimed at addressing long-standing challenges and creating a stronger economic foundation.

The President’s Chief of Staff added that the reforms were gradually contributing to economic stability, reducing inflationary pressures and improving investor confidence, while investments in infrastructure, human capital development and youth empowerment programmes were creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

He also commended Seyi Tinubu, the Patron and National Leader of the City Boy Movement, for his dedication to youth development and for supporting the growth of the organisation.

Gbajabiamila encouraged members of the movement to promote peaceful engagement, strengthen community relationships and serve as ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Agenda by inspiring confidence among young Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, called for stronger grassroots mobilisation, improved organisational structures and continuous engagement with citizens to strengthen support for the administration’s policies.

The Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, unveiled the group’s strategic plan to mobilise 10 million youth votes ahead of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Shoga revealed that the movement would expand its presence across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with greater focus on ward-level mobilisation and community-based engagement rather than relying solely on online campaigns.

The National Secretary of the movement, Tosin Odufuwa, described the retreat as a turning point for the organisation, saying the gathering was aimed at improving coordination, strengthening internal structures and preparing members for nationwide mobilisation.

Odufuwa stressed that the City Boy Movement, despite becoming one of Nigeria’s largest youth-led political groups, must continue to improve its professionalism and operational strategies.

The retreat brought together coordinators from across the country, members of the National Working Committee, Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, Seyi Tinubu and other stakeholders to discuss leadership, mobilisation and strategic planning ahead of future political activities.
