According to Ireporter Online, the United States dollar exchanged for ₦1,425 at the selling rate and ₦1,410 at the buying rate in Nigeria’s parallel market, popularly known as the black market, on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Market sources operating within the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment disclosed that the rates reflected the prevailing value of the dollar in the Lagos parallel market, although exchange prices may vary slightly across different locations and dealers.

The report further noted that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continues to distance itself from transactions conducted in the parallel market. The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognise the black market for foreign exchange trading and has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign currency to obtain it through authorised commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.

Meanwhile, official data from the CBN showed that the dollar traded within a range of ₦1,378 to ₦1,381 in the official foreign exchange market.

Stakeholders are, however, advised to note that forex rates are subject to fluctuations, meaning the actual buying and selling prices may differ depending on the location, dealer, and prevailing market conditions.
