APC Governors Review Primaries, Move To Hold Strategic Talks With Yilwatda Ahead Of 2027 Elections
According to Ireporter Online, governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reviewed the outcome of the party’s recent primaries and resolved to engage in a strategic meeting with the APC National Chairman, Netanwe Yilwatda, and other key party leaders as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), which concluded in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja. The forum’s chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, briefed journalists after the closed-door session, confirming that the governors extensively evaluated recent political developments within the party.
According to him, the meeting reviewed the conduct and outcomes of the APC primaries across the country, as well as the recent Ekiti governorship election and several by-elections, where he noted that the ruling party recorded impressive performance. He added that discussions also centered on strengthening Nigeria’s democratic space and improving the welfare of citizens.
Uzodimma stated that the governors were committed to addressing prevailing challenges in the political system while ensuring better outcomes for Nigerians, stressing that the forum remains united in its objectives.
He further disclosed that the governors agreed to meet with the party leadership to commence early planning for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, noting that the APC is fully prepared for the upcoming polls.
The PGF chairman reaffirmed that the forum would continue to collaborate closely with the party leadership to consolidate the APC’s strength and ensure sustained political success ahead of future elections.
The meeting was attended by governors from Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom, Borno, and several other states, all reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the ruling party and delivering improved governance to Nigerians.
