Tinubu Under Threat? Fresh Details Emerge On Alleged Coup Plot

According to Ireporter Online, fresh details have emerged from an ongoing investigation into allegations that some military officers planned to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with investigative documents reportedly revealing alleged use of coded language, operational plans, troop mobilisation strategies and logistics arrangements.

The documents, said to contain more than 7,400 pages, reportedly include statements from suspects, financial records, confidential notes, alleged communication records and other materials gathered during the investigation.

According to reports from investigative sources, the alleged plan involved attempts to take control of strategic military facilities, secure broadcast stations, mobilise personnel and neutralise senior military officers believed to be capable of stopping the operation.

However, the allegations remain claims contained in investigative documents, and the accused officers are entitled to defend themselves against the accusations through due legal processes.

Investigators reportedly identified Colonel Mohammed Ma’aji of the Nigerian Army as one of the key figures allegedly linked to the plan, alongside retired Colonel M.M. Adamu, Lieutenant-Colonel Shamsuddeen Bappah and Major Abdulkarim Ibrahim.

Military authorities were said to have indicated that Adamu was still at large, while statements were reportedly obtained from some of the other officers mentioned in connection with the investigation.

The documents reportedly revealed that the suspects allegedly used coded terms to conceal conversations surrounding the alleged operation. Investigators claimed the group referred to themselves as “farmers” and described the alleged movement as “farming.”

Other agriculture-related expressions were allegedly assigned different meanings. “Fertilisers” was reportedly used to describe logistics such as funds, vehicles, weapons and supplies, while “harvest” allegedly referred to the proposed execution date of the operation.

The term “digital farming” was reportedly linked to the planned operation, while religious figures allegedly contacted to offer prayers were described as “technical partners.”

Investigators also claimed that expressions such as “D-Day” and “H-hour” were used in reference to the proposed date and time for carrying out the alleged plan.

The documents reportedly showed that there were disagreements among those allegedly involved over when the operation would take place, with different dates including September 27, October 1 and October 4, 2025, reportedly discussed.

October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, was said to have been among the dates considered, although some suspects reportedly told investigators that no final date was reached because preparations were incomplete.

One of the officers allegedly stated that the availability of troops, equipment and other resources would determine when the operation could proceed.

The investigative materials also reportedly highlighted the importance of logistics, manpower and strategic locations in the alleged plan, with responsibilities said to have been assigned among individuals involved.

Beyond the alleged takeover attempt, investigators claimed the documents also contained discussions about possible arrangements that would follow if the operation succeeded.

The latest revelations add to ongoing developments surrounding the investigation, as authorities continue examining the alleged roles of the individuals accused of involvement.
