Fury Keeps Joshua Dream Fight Alive With Dominant Victory

The 37-year-old former world heavyweight champion dominated proceedings from the opening bell at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya. Wach, 46, was unable to continue after the seventh round, handing Fury his 36th professional victory.

The win keeps alive the possibility of a blockbuster clash with Joshua, who is scheduled to face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in a comeback bout in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking after the contest, Fury expressed satisfaction with his performance and turned his attention to Joshua’s upcoming fight, saying he had successfully passed his own test and was now waiting to see whether his fellow Briton would do the same.

Despite speculation that he would travel to Jeddah for a potential in-ring face-off with Joshua if the former champion emerged victorious, Fury dismissed the reports, explaining that he intended to return home to spend time with his family after being away for much of the year.

He added that his focus was on recovering and hoped an agreement for the highly anticipated fight could be finalised within the coming week.

Uncertainty, however, remains over the venue for the proposed showdown. While Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has reportedly stated that contractual terms favour hosting the fight in the United Kingdom, there have also been suggestions that the contest could take place in the United States.

Fury said he was open to competing wherever the fight is eventually staged, mentioning locations including Las Vegas, New York, Ireland and London as possible venues.

The bout against Wach was not broadcast live on television or radio. Instead, footage from the contest is expected to feature in the third season of the Netflix reality series At Home With The Furys.
