Tinubu Outpaces PDP’s Eight Years of Rule in Just Two, Says Senior Aide

The Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that Tinubu’s accomplishments within two years in office have outpaced those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during its first eight years of governance. Speaking via a social media post, Bwala highlighted the difficult conditions Tinubu inherited compared to those faced by the PDP administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Bwala noted that while the PDP benefited from foreign debt forgiveness and a more favorable international climate following Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, Tinubu has been tasked with repaying debts and rebuilding confidence on the global stage without similar goodwill. He also pointed to the challenges in security management, stating that Boko Haram emerged during the PDP era due to mismanagement, whereas Tinubu’s administration has made progress in reducing insecurity and charting a path toward lasting solutions.

According to Bwala, Tinubu has taken bold and tough decisions necessary to stabilize and recover Nigeria’s economy—decisions previous administrations were hesitant to make. He summarized, “The hallmark of a true leader is in his ability to take courageous decisions at the right time.”
