On Tuesday, speculation arose about a potential political merger in light of the discussions held at the SDP national secretariat as the 2027 elections approach.
Gabam emphasized his openness to dialogues aimed at fostering a better Nigeria, stating, “There has been no official announcement from El-Rufai or his associates regarding joining the SDP. What we are pursuing is open dialogue and negotiation for the betterment of Nigeria. Our focus is not merely on party politics but on the nation’s future.”
He added, “We seek to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a vision for Nigeria’s progress, enabling us to enhance the overall standards in the country. The media’s attention has been primarily on them, but I have had discussions with various dignitaries from different political parties regarding ways to stabilize the country and provide constructive guidance to the government to prevent crises.”
Gabam highlighted the significant impact government crises have on all Nigerians and reiterated the SDP’s role in ensuring stability. He remarked, “We will determine our path forward when the time is right, but for now, we are engaged in social gatherings and dialogues on national issues.”
He assured that more like-minded individuals are joining their cause, deeming these meetings a regular occurrence in his office. “This is a positive development, not just for those present but for anyone interested in joining forces. The SDP boasts a history of responsible leadership, and we aim to continue this trend.”
“Our priority is Nigeria, above all else. We are committed to fostering a peaceful, well-organized nation that promotes economic prosperity and political stability for investors,” Gabam concluded, underscoring the SDP’s role as a constructive opposition party, similar to how the APC raised concerns that led to the PDP’s removal from power.
