the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom. The news was confirmed by Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement issued on Monday, titled, “President Tinubu Approves Establishment of Federal University in Southern Kaduna.”
The late traditional ruler was a relative of the prominent Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
During his visit to Ikulu Kingdom in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Shettima also revealed discussions for a Federal Medical Centre to be built in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
“With the involvement of Senator Katung and members of the House of Representatives, we have consulted with President Bola Tinubu, who has agreed to the establishment of the university,” Shettima stated.
Emphasizing the administration’s commitment to Southern Kaduna’s development, the Vice President cited the appointment of Gen. Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as a testament to the President’s focus on regional security.
Shettima reassured the people, saying, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the interests of the people of Kaduna and Southern Kaduna at heart.” He also praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his inclusive governance style, underlining the importance of interconnectedness within the community.
He affirmed that the Federal Government would collaborate with the state government to enhance development in Southern Kaduna, particularly regarding road infrastructure.
In gratitude, Bishop Kukah expressed appreciation on behalf of the family for the Vice President’s visit, stating, “Thank you for being here with us.” He highlighted the poor state of local roads, noting the three-and-a-half-hour journey it took for Shettima to reach them.
“I know you will continue to be a friend to the Ikulu nation and this community. We are honored by your presence,” he added.
