During a condolence visit to Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Shettima confirmed the approval, revealing that discussions are also underway for the creation of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

“Following consultations with Senator Katung and members of the House of Representatives, we reached out to President Tinubu, who has agreed to the establishment of the federal university in Southern Kaduna,” Shettima said.

He further emphasized the President’s commitment to the region’s development, citing the appointment of Gen. Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as an indication of the government’s dedication to addressing the security needs of Southern Kaduna.

Shettima commended Governor Uba Sani for his inclusive governance approach, which aims to unite all components of the state. He assured the people of Southern Kaduna that both the federal and state governments are working to enhance regional infrastructure, particularly roads.

Bishop Kukah expressed gratitude for the Vice-President’s visit, acknowledging the challenges faced by the community, including poor road conditions that made the journey difficult. He thanked Shettima for his support, noting the government’s commitment to improving the region.
