2027: Tinubu Unveils Powerful APC Campaign Council, Names Yari DG

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, with the party’s leadership and several prominent political figures assigned key responsibilities.

According to Ireporter Online, Tinubu will serve as chairman of the campaign council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will act as vice chairman. Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary, while APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will occupy the positions of deputy secretary and assistant secretary respectively. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as a vice chairman of the council.

The campaign leadership will be supported by a team of senior advisers, including former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election. He urged the various directorates to engage other party members and stakeholders who were not included in the initial list.

The President said the party would enter the campaign season with its achievements in economic reforms and national development as key points of its campaign message.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were named deputy director-generals for the southern and northern regions. They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as deputy director-general.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a major role in the APC’s previous presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

He will work with zonal directors covering the South-West, South-South, South-East, North-West, North-Central and North-East regions.

The election planning directorate will also have Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Attorney-General of the Federation Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris will serve as coordinating director alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries.

Segun Dada has been appointed Director of New Media, a position he previously held during the 2022 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of the New Media Directorate.

The APC has also named five spokespersons for the campaign, led by Dele Alake. Other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
