66 Deputy Superintendents Trained In Modern Policing Strategies

The Nigeria Police Force has trained 66 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to effectively tackle evolving crimes in the country. These officers, drawn from various formations across the nation, convened at the Police Staff College in Jos for an operational leadership training program focused on enhancing their capacity to address modern policing challenges.

During the training session on Saturday, the Commandant of the Police Staff College, Adebowale Williams, emphasized the complexity and increasing challenges of modern policing. Williams, an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), highlighted the need for innovative and visionary personnel to address the emerging complex threats faced by law enforcement.

“Policing in the 21st century is more challenging than ever before, with complex threats and evolving forms of crime requiring innovative strategies and visionary leadership,” Williams stated. “You will be exposed to modern policing strategies, hence, be prepared for the task ahead.”

Williams also reminded the officers that their role extends beyond enforcing the law to serving and protecting communities, upholding justice, and maintaining public trust. He stressed that the skills and knowledge acquired during the course would enhance their professional capabilities and empower them to positively impact the lives of those they serve.

The training program covered various aspects of policing in a democratic society, including intelligence policing, fundamental human rights, crime prevention and detection, as well as criminal investigations and prosecution.

This initiative is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to adapt to the dynamic nature of crime and to ensure that its personnel are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to maintain law and order effectively.
