Abia Targets Medal Sweep at Asaba 2024 with 259-Athlete Contingent
Abia Sports Council has set its sights on a remarkable medal haul at the upcoming Asaba 2024 sports competition. According to the council, a robust contingent of 259 athletes and officials is prepared to represent the state in various sporting events, aiming to bring home numerous medals.
Speaking on behalf of the council, the Director of Sports, Mr. John Eke, expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and abilities. “We have meticulously prepared our athletes in every aspect, and we are confident that our 259 contingents will dominate the competition and bring glory to Abia State,” Eke said.
The team will compete in a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, basketball, swimming, boxing, and football, among others. The council has ensured that the athletes receive top-tier training and have access to the necessary resources to excel.
Extensive Preparation for Victory
To ensure optimal performance, the Abia State government, in collaboration with the Sports Council, has invested heavily in training facilities and support systems for the athletes. Special attention has been given to the development of young talents who are expected to shine in individual and team events.
“We are not just participating; we are going to Asaba 2024 to win. Abia has always been known for producing excellent athletes, and we are confident that this time we will sweep the medals,” added Mr. Eke.
